The two have been playing together since 2006.

At 5 p.m. the women's powerhouse duo, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings will play Australia. May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings are looking for their third consecutive gold medal in beach volleyball. The pair is favored to win, but has faced a few challenges in the run up to the 2012 games.

In 2008, May-Treanor tore her Achilles tendon while competing on the show "Dancing With the Stars." During the break between 2008 and 2012 Walsh Jennings also took time off to have a family. Despite their time off, May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings won three gold and four silver medals on the 2011 World Tour.

In boxing, American MIddleweight Terrell Gausha, from Cleveland, will box against Armenian Andranik Hakobyan today at 5:15 p.m. Gausha has a good shot at gold. He is the reigning USA National Middleweight Champion, winning a double tie-breaker to take that title, and he is a five-time Cleveland Golden Gloves Champion.

Google confirms it still has a 'small portion' of Street View WiFi data, apologizes

It has seemed like Google was close to putting its Street View snooping controversy behind it a few times now, but one thing or another keeps bringing it back to the forefront. Today, it's an admission from Google that it hasn't deleted all of the so-called payload data in question after all. That revelation comes in a letter from Google Global Privacy Counsel Peter Fleisher to Steve Eckersley, head of enforcement at the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (or ICO), in which Fleisher says that Google is still in possession of a "small portion of payload data collected by our Street View vehicles in the UK." Fleisher adds that Google "apologizes for this error," and says that the data was discovered after an extensive review of its Street View data that it has been conducting in recent months. For its part, the ICO has acknowledged that it received the letter, and notes that the data was supposed to have been deleted in December of 2010, adding that "the fact that some of this information still exists appears to breach the undertaking to the ICO signed by Google in November 2010." Sunday night we watched this year's hottest celebs get honored by the fans as Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale hosted the 2012 Teen Choice Awards along with the sounds of DJ Pauly D.

Worst Flashback: And by worst, we mean for McHale, but it was great for us. Did you know the "Glee" star was in a boy band?! Yep, we even got to see some old NLT (Not Like Them) footage and then the actor gave us his own impromptu "audition" to Lovato. He totally has the "X Factor."

Worst Disappointment: Unfortunately, Channing Tatum wasn't there to accept his award with Jonah Hill for their flick "21 Jump Street." And here we were secretly hoping that, since Magic Mike costar Adam Rodriguez helped present the award, they would bust into a dance on stage together. Wishful thinking.?

As we anxiously wait for "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" to release this fall, we got to see Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner accept the Ultimate Choice Award after an incredible movie montage that got us that much more excited for the next film. Oh, and did you know "Twilight" has won 41 Teen Choice Awards??

University: CO shooting suspect had federal grant

DENVER (AP) ? The University of Colorado says shooting suspect James Holmes had a federal grant to study neuroscience.

University spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said Saturday that Holmes was one of six neuroscience students at the school to get National Institutes of Health grant money. She didn't know how much money he got.

The NIH says the university decides who gets the grants. Criteria for receiving the grant weren't immediately clear.

The university says Holmes enrolled in the program last year and was withdrawing. Montgomery says Holmes didn't indicate why he was withdrawing.

Montgomery says Holmes took an oral exam at the end of the semester that all students must pass to continue in the program. She says privacy laws prevent the school from releasing his score.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) ? Police and construction workers have barricaded both sides of the street and the sidewalks near the statue of Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno at Penn State University.

A chain-link fence has been erected around the area surrounding the statue.

Two dump trucks, a flatbed truck and a forklift that brought the fence are at the scene. In all, about 20 construction workers and about 20 police officers are present.

The statue has become a target for the late coach's critics since former FBI Director Louis Freeh alleged a cover-up by Paterno and others that allowed retired assistant coach Jerry Sandusky to continue molesting boys.

Aurora, Colo., victim had escaped Toronto shooting

Jessica Ghawi had escaped a mall shooting in Toronto weeks ago when an "odd feeling" led her outside, and then blogged about how fortunate she was.

But in an ironic and tragic twist of fate, Ghawi died in Friday's Colorado theater shooting spree, one of 12 fatalities in the mass killing.

Ghawi, a sports blogger who had aspirations of becoming a television reporter, had moved from Texas to Colorado to pursue her career and adopted the pen name Jessica Redfield.

Her final moments were chronicled in a series of Twitter messages, including one just before the deadly shooting spree, and in a blog post by her brother.

"MOVIE DOESN'T START FOR 20 MINUTES," she tweeted just ahead of the shooting early Friday at a packed premiere of the latest Batman movie in the Denver area that killed at least 12 people and left around 40 others wounded.

Hours earlier, she had a Twitter conversation with colleague Jesse Spector about the film. She wrote, "@jessespector you aren't seeing it tonight?!" When he replied "Nope" she tweeted back, "psh. Loser!"

The victim's brother, Jordan Ghawi, wrote a blog post describing his learning the news.

"At approximately 0215 CST, I received an hysterical, and almost unintelligible, phone call from my mother stating that my sister, Jessica Ghawi, had been shot while attending the midnight showing of 'The Dark Knight Rises' in Denver, CO," he said.

"I was able to contact the man that was with my sister, mutual friend Brent Lowak, who stated that they were in the theater when an incendiary device was fired into the crowd and that shots rang out immediately afterwards," he added.

"Brent further stated that he took two rounds and that my sister took one round followed by an additional round, which appeared to strike her in the head."

He later updated the account after speaking with Lowak:

"Jessica and Brent were seated in the middle portion of the theatre when a device was thrown into the theatre that produced a 'hissing' sound," he said in the blog.

"The theatre than began to fill with smoke which is when patrons began to move from their seats. At that time, shots were fired... Brent then heard Jessica scream and noticed that she was struck by a round in the leg.

"Brent, began holding pressure on the wound and attempted to calm Jessica... While still administering first aid, Brent noticed that Jessica was no longer screaming."

Lowak told the brother that he "saw what appeared to be an entry wound to her head" before she died, and he then escaped. "Brent's actions are nothing but heroic," Jordan Ghawi wrote.

Ghawi recently moved to Denver from San Antonio.

"You can find me in the TV studio, NHL arena/locker room, on a plane, or writing. Southern. Sarcastic. Sass.Class.Crass. Grammar snob," said her Twitter profile.

The killing prompted an outpouring of grief and sympathy from friends and colleagues.

"My friend Jessica Ghawi was killed in the #Aurora Shooting - she was an aspiring sportscaster - she will be missed," wrote television journalist Natalie Tejeda.

"I want her to be remembered as an amazing, vivacious, feisty woman!"

Ghawi, who wrote a hockey blog under the name Jessica Redfield, calling herself "Pucktress," and had commented about last month's Toronto shooting in a June 5 blog post.

"This empty, almost sickening feeling won't go away," she wrote.

"An odd feeling which led me to go outside and unknowingly out of harm's way. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around how a weird feeling saved me from being in the middle of a deadly shooting," she added.

"I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing. So often I have found myself taking it for granted.

"Every hug from a family member. Every laugh we share with friends. Even the times of solitude are all blessings. Every second of every day is a gift."

Mourning Ghawi, Spector tweeted: "Words are useless. Guns more so. If you ever had any interaction with @JessicaRedfield, you know the world is much worse off without her."

The Dark Knight Rises (for iPad)

The Dark Knight Rises iOS game, Gameloft's official action tie-in with Christopher Nolan's smash hit conclusion to Warner Bros.' Batman trilogy, brings hard-hitting street justice to the iPad and iPhone. The $6.99 game lacks Nolan's strong narrative, but captures the look and feel of The Dark Knight movies while delivering what's importanta fun, engaging video game experience that stretches from Gotham City's rooftops to its underbelly.

Batman Begins
Spoiler alert: See the movie before playing the game because the game features not only Bane and Selina Kyle, but also some of the dialogue from the trailers and TV spots. I haven't seen the film yet, so I'm not sure how much of the movie is spoiled in the game. Tread carefully if you want to go into the film fresh. The game spans six chapters (with multiple missions per section) that take place in well-rendered indoor and outdoor settings. You bash baddies in diverse locations ranging from rooftops to subway stations to skyscraper interiors to Gotham's streets.

Gameloft, thankfully, mixes up the action so that gameplay never gets repetitive. You glide from rooftop to rooftop, hop on the Bat-Pod, and fight foes mano-a-mano. The familiar Batman themes accentuate the action, adding a sense of drama and peril. The game saves frequently, so if you blow a mission, you're not set back too far back. That's a welcome touch, especially in a mobile game that you may play in short sessions on a commute or in a waiting room.

The Dark Knight
Combat consists of striking, evading, and countering?each action's mapped to an individual virtual button when you're in close proximity to an enemy. You as the Caped Crusader can can stun enemies from a distance with the Batarang or drag them toward you after ensnaring them with your grapnel gun's cable. You can unleash some truly impressive combo strings (highlighted by very cool slow-motion effects) that are reminiscent of Rocksteady's critically acclaimed Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games.

The Tech Shop is where Batman powers up his abilities and related gadgetry. You can increase weapon potency, Bat-Pod capabilities, and also outfit Master Wayne with abilities that make him even more bad ass. These upgrades, naturally, are earned; some are unlocked when you reach a certain level (Bat-Pod weapons are available at level 26), and there is also a system for outright purchase with credits. Yes, credits. You earn them in-game by bringing sweet street justice to urban vermin, but you can also purchase them with real-life cash. The base purchase is 2,000 credits for $1.99.

Knightfall
The Dark Knight Rises does a lot right in capturing the feel of Nolan's movies, but there are a few quibbles to address. Although The Dark Knight Rises features a beautifully rendered Gotham City, the streets are surprisingly barren for a city that's modeled, according to various DC Comics sources, on either Chicago or New York City. It's a mausoleum of a city that could have benefitted from citizens simply strolling down the street.

The camera can prove troublesome, too, which is a direct consequence of having touchscreen controls. As there's no physical button to let you know when your finger has slipped off of it, you can accidentally swipe the screen, which shifts the camera. It took me a bit of time to acclimate to the tap controls so that I wouldn't be fighting villains blind.

Holy Quality, Batman!
The Dark Knight Rises is another extremely solid game from Gameloft, a company that has mastered bringing near-console quality games to the mobile space. It's a tight movie tie-in that manages to avoid disappointment?a rarity in the video-game industry. If you're looking for iOS Bat-action after seeing the film, The Dark Knight Returns is worth a download.

Local Finance Board Releases Questionnaire for Applicants Seeking Tax Appeal and Other Approvals

The Local Finance Board (Board) has released a questionnaire for all municipal and county applicants seeking approval of the Board to:

1. Long-term finance tax appeals;

2. Long-term finance certain emergencies; and

3. Issue bonds pursuant to a non-conforming maturity schedule.

The four-page questionnaire is being used by the Board to help assess whether the applicant has made prior efforts to ?prepare for a reasonably forseeable financial challenge? and whether the applicant has ?made substantial efforts to control spending.? The questionnaire asks project-specific questions (?When did the applicant become aware of the underlying issue?? ?What appropriation and other steps has the applicant taken to provide for the financial exposure??) and more general operational questions (?Do elected officials receive compensation?? ?Are there any shared service agreements in place??).

The message being sent by the Board to potential applicants is clear from the questionnaire ? don?t look for us, the Board, to provide financial relief unless you, the Applicant, have already made substantial efforts on your own.

This message can best be applied to an applicant seeking long-term financing of tax appeals. A municipality or county seeking to finance prior years? tax appeals, that has not been providing funds via a reserve for tax appeals in the budgets of prior years or the current year, is not likely to be favorably reviewed by the Board.

The questionnaire should be reviewed by all municipalities and counties and used as a guidebook in managing potential financial exposures. Municipalities and counties seeking any of the approvals referenced above should be prepared to complete and file the questionnaire simultaneous with filing their application with the Board.

Thank you for this interview, Scarlett.? You self-published your latest book, 1001 First Lines.? Would you please tell us why you chose the self-publishing route?

My graphic design experience put me in that position where I could do the design and layout from front to back. I?m pedantic so it was important to me to have the say on everything. As a book cover designer for self-published authors I get a pretty detailed industry view. As a business woman I felt obliged to take it into my own hands. I never try and miss an opportunity!

Take us through the process.? You had an idea for your book, you wrote it, then you decided to find a publisher.? What were your experiences with that?? Or did you decide to self-publish without looking any further?

I decided to get in to self-publishing early on in the game with this book. The book was self-explanatory and so I was coming to it from a different angle than a lot of self-published authors. Promotionally, creatively, in its process. As a book designer for self-published authors I felt it was vital for me to go through the experience myself to understand the systems, the problems, and challenges encountered by my clients.

What different online stores carry your book?

At the moment it?s Amazon for both eBook and Kindle, then it will be iTunes, B&N, Sony and Kobo.

Do you think that having your book self-published makes any difference to the media? Are they open to interviewing self-published authors or reviewing their books?

I think it depends a lot on the kind of book. As mentioned earlier they may consider fiction over non-fiction (or vice-versa), and if the book is designed well I know that makes a huge difference compared to it looking like a low-quality, low resolution book cover.

Authors who go the traditional route have an edge over self-published authors in regards to distribution to bookstores.? How did you handle that as a self-published author?

I?m always watching the self-publishing industry, both from a writer?s and reader?s perspective. There?s been a huge shift in acceptance of self-published books in the last few years, and how much longer are book stores- at least the franchises- going to be around?? The playing field is leveling out.

On the other hand, self-published authors have the edge over traditional books in the regards that the author has all the control.? I?d like to begin with your cover.? Did you make it or did you have someone else design it? If you had someone else, can you tell us who it is?

I designed my own cover. It?s handy having those skills that cover all the bases. I have six years of design experience behind me, and I work with self-publishers specifically, which was a huge advantage!

Did you get someone to format it for you or did you do that?

I formatted it myself for paperback and had Talitha Kalago from Traditional Evolution Books and Services format it for eBook purposes.

What was the hardest challenge for you to self-publish your book?

Non-Fiction can still be creative. You can write in your own voice and make it edgy and fun.

Reference is tedious. There?s no point at which you can say ?Wow yeah now I?m getting in to it!? or ?Ah, thank Frank that chapter is over, now I can write what I?ve been dying to.? It?s just data entry, ongoing for months and months. And then more, after you have to revise it and then revise it again.

What steps are you taking to promote it?

It?s a many-leveled process. Blogging, getting readers involved, bringing it up in conversation, and- of course- a book tour!

J'adore Rougit: In the Limelight: Sleek Makeup Blush in Rose Gold ...

Sleek Makeup has made its mark on beauty?aficionados?worldwide for their inexpensive yet good quality makeup. Their eye shadows, blushes, and lip products all scream pigment which isn't the case with other inexpensive products. I was keeping myself from purchasing any of their blushes even though there were hundreds of raves because I knew I didn't need any more cheek colours but when I found a good deal online, I caved in and got Rose Gold. It is one of those blushes that are being compared to NARS Orgasm (again, I wonder why there are a lot of Orgasm-ish shades) and even though I no longer own that said blush, I can clearly remember how it looks. Let's see if it can pass as a dupe for the said blush or if I even like it at all.

Sleek Makeup describes their blushes as....

A highly pigmented blusher to brighten and define cheekbones. The silky-fine formulation provides long lasting blusher which helps to create a subtle but radiant cheek area.?
Apply using a small powder/blusher brush, by swirling the brush over the surface of the blusher. Tap off excess powder and apply onto the apples of the cheeks to emphasise your cheeks and your smile, or just below the cheek bone to create a sculpted look. 8g

What I like:

• The compact is small and sturdy and does not totally look cheap. It is indeed very sleek.
• There is a mirror inside the compact which is very useful for touch ups.
• The shade is a gorgeous peach-pink shade with gold flecks.
• Very pigmented. On the swatch below, I only dabbed my finger and did not even swipe it across the blush yet I was able to get that much product.
• Lasts a few hours which is acceptable.
• No allergic reactions, no breakouts either.
• Inexpensive for Php 400-450 for 8g of product.
• Has a shelf life of 24 months or two years.?
• Now locally available, thanks to distributors and resellers.

What I don't like:

• A very pretty shade, albeit too shimmery for my liking. It is a "shining, shimmering, splendid" blush. If shimmers are your thing, you will definitely love this. I'd choose iridescence over shimmers any time of the day.
• Oxidizes on me and looks bronze-y after a couple of hours on me.

Overall rating: 4/5 Aside from oxidizing on me, I can't say this isn't a good blush because it is. The shimmer thing is just a personal preference.

Will I buy again? ?In case I decide to, I'll probably go for Flamingo which is another pretty shade. :) But I don't see myself purchasing a blush from them soon. :)
